It's Friday, Friday!!!

The weekend is finally here! I could not be more excited that there is not any school tomorrow!

Today I had my first world civilization test.  We had a study session this morning in which the teacher literally went over every question on the study guide, highlighting the key points and providing us with the essay questions.  That test was definitely a breeze!  You cannot beat that!

Most of my classes were pretty easy today.  When I get back from classes there was more bathroom drama in our apartment.  The man came to fix it today and found out that the problem is much more complex than he thought.  The good news is that we are getting a new floor and toilet!  The bad news is that he will have to rip up our floor and our toilet to fix the problem.  Since it will be quite a project he is going to fix it over our Christmas break.  But hey at least they have been very quick with our repairs!

I also got some lovely mail today! My dad ordered me the Complete Second Season of Glee which I have enjoyed all night!  I love this season!

Do you remember how yesterday I talked about what a clutz I have been all week....well as I am writing this I just slammed my head on the bookshelf.  I think it is time to get some serious sleep.

Speaking of sleep....my 8:30 english class has been cancelled all week so I was really excited to sleep in!  I even worked on my biology lesson plans early so I could turn them in and not have to walk to campus early on Monday just to submit them.  But all day the teacher was not in her office so I guess I still have to get up early on Monday!  Unless one of my lovely roommates would want to take them for me!  I mean they should help me out!  I have to get up SO EARLY on Tuesdays and Thursdays! Hint, Hint!

Oh and random thought for the day: Did you know fish could be sick?  Kate's fish was acting weird so I decided to Google its problem just to be funny!  I have diagnosed her fish with the disease swimbladder!  Is that not hilarious or what?!

Okay well I am getting really tired.  I hope you all have a great weekend!

Love,
Sarah

Broken, Broken, Broken

I know! It's been forever since I have written!  I am totally to blame!  But maybe you will take some pity on me when you hear how my last few days have gone.  Literally this entire week each day I have woken up, gone to classes, work, etc, done homework in between each of those things and then came back home to do more homework.  I have taken breaks to eat but have pretty much surrounded myself in my studies otherwise.  I am both physically and emotionally exhausted as it has been one extremely trying week.  I am so exhausted that I just completely blanked on most everything I was going to write in this post.  Oh well maybe it will come to me as I begin....

Let me start out by explaining the title of today's entry.  EVERYTHING keeps breaking/turning out wrong!  Monday I tried to be nice and put everyone's dishes away while I was making my noodles but I lost track of time and burnt half of them.  Yesterday I decided to clean up the table after dinner and proceeded to drop my roommates fondue pot and break the handle.  Then when trying to put dishes away again I hit another roommate's basket and it fell in the garbage can and needless to say she doesn't want the garlic that was inside.  Today after work my bike started freaking out and acting like it is stuck between gears or something.  I think my chain is messed up but I know absolutely nothing about mechanics.  Then our toilet overflows and while the guy did come and do a temporary fix he did not come back in the afternoon to take it out and reset it like he was supposed to.  Then as I was putting my lunch away I tripped and spilled pasta everywhere.  So I think I could really use some sleep! Especially since I am reaching the point where every little thing is really getting on my  nerves.

Well I could keep ranting, like I said it has been a long week, but instead I am going to focus on something much more positive.  Revival was this week!  I really enjoyed the sermons this week and the music as well!  I will never tire of songs that have girl and guy parts!  Especially when my chapel buddies are both guys!  It just sounds so cool!  I could definitely feel God's presence throughout revival.  He is so amazing and wonderful and I am completely blessed to have such a Savior in my life.  And now I feel guilty for ranting and raving so much prior.

I pray that your week has been an enjoyable one!  Oh and I love mail! (hint hint)

Love you all!

Overwhelmed!!

Coming home is amazing...but it always seems to go by too quickly.  I got home around 4 today, left for dinner at 5, and have been going through some clothes and decorations to pack back up.  Tomorrow I am going to church, lunch with family, and hopefully getting a haircut and doing some shopping before heading back to school in the evening.  Now don't think for a second that I have been slacking this past week on homework, because to be honest I have been working a lot.  But I am beginning to realize how much I still have to do.  So let me make a list of what I have to do...
1. I have to write my exegesis which is around 12 pages long and requires 10 sources and lots and lots of research.
2. I have to write a 15 page paper for college writing which requires 20 sources and lots and lots of reseach.
3. I have to create 5 lesson plans for biology.
4. I have to complete a 12 page study guide for my world civilization class.
5.  I have to read 8 passages before my next England meeting.
6. I have to read Persuasion for my England group discussion group.
7.  Quite frankly the list goes on and on but I am starting to feel like I am whining too much.

So even if I am completely overwhelmed I am trying to remind myself that it will all be completed eventually.  I mean stuff always gets finished so I need to just take it one step at a time. I get frustrated sometimes which the fact that school seems to need to be such a priority.  I mean I want to make other changes in my life.  I want to have more time to work out, but I always feel like my homework must be done first.  I want to take random shopping trips on the weekend, but someone always has homework or an extra assignment or something.  I know at this point I need to just take things one step at a time, I just want this year to be amazing.  I don't want school to take over my life, and yet I also have to remember that I am at school for a reason.  So now that I have ranted and raved...I must say some things that I am excited about.

I am excited to be home with my family and be able to sleep in my wonderful bed tonight!
I am excited to be watching one of my favorite shows I have missed.
I am excited that Revival is starting this week, providing me time to focus on my relationship with God!
I am excited that as frustrating as school may get, that I go to such an amazing school with wonderful friends, professors, and atmosphere!

Well I am getting tired and need to make a plan for tomorrow.  So it's time to get off and get ready for everything to come.

Love you all!

Quick Updates

The Internet really stinks here!  So we will see if I can even stay connected while I type this.

To sum up my past few days all I would have to say is class, work, homework, study in library, eat, sleep a little, class, homework, clean the apartment, etc.

Not very exciting...but definitely the life of a college student.

Let me think if anything exciting has happened...on Monday I went to Dairy Queen.  But I was trying a new blizzard and thought it was disgusting so I threw it out.  Last night absolutely nothing excited happened except that I made myself a delicious bowl of chicken noodles and enjoyed some episodes of How I Met Your Mother, until I fianlly realized homework could be put off no longer and got to work.  Wednesdays are always pretty busy and today has been no exception.  Today was the day the Ministries talked in chapel, and even though I am already involved in one I really feel like I want to be more involved.  So far I have decided to join Disciplers and Compassionate Ministries.  I also had a Student Education Association meeting where I decided I want to get involved in a Wednesday night church teaching opportunity.  Needless to say I am going to give up most of my free time.  But hey, it's college!  You only have these opportunities once!

Well as much as I am sure there is more to write about, I simply do not have time, as I have my first test tomorrow and must continue studying!

Night all

Ollies Follies Variety Show!

It seems like I just woke up...and yet it is already time to go to bed again!

This morning we woke up and had a lovely service at church.  Then my mother and father came to bring me some clothes.  I only packed one pair of jeans, but since it has been so chilly I decided I would really need more.  But of course tomorrow it is supposed to be in the 80's. Oh the irony! :-)

My parents took me to a lovely lunch at Applebee's where they let me catch them up on the week and rant a little too.  Unfortunately they weren't able to stay for very long because I needed to finish some things up in the apartment.  I went through some clothing and packed things away.  I also made sure things were all planned out for the week, or at least as much as possible.

Then this evening was time for the Ollies Follies Variety Show! Each class performs dances that coincide with their theme.  While the sophomores definitely made improvements since last year, it was obvious that the seniors deserved to win!  They were absolutely amazing!  I should also give a shout out to my amazing cousin who performed with the freshman!  That takes some serious guts and talent!   I have pictures to post but unfortunately my internet is not working very well so I will have to try again tomorrow.  Well my roommates and I are watching some tv and then are going to head to bed.

Love you all,
Sarah

ONU Wins!

Sorry it has been a while since I have posted.  The internet has been horrible lately! The IT department finally fixed the problem though so hopefully I will be able to post more regularly!

Well it seems as though there are probably a million things to catch you up on, but let's just discuss a few.  The week went well overall.  Classes were typical but the homework load has not been unbearable yet.  Though part of this is due to the fact that I haven't really started on any of my 15 page papers...and I believe I have one due in almost every class.

Friday came and let's just say I was ready to get out of the apartment!  However, there wasn't anything to do!  My cousin, two of my roomates, and another girl decided to go to Steak N Shake! It was very delicious....plus the conversation was entertaining! Then we made a trip to Wal-Mart and the bookstore but were back to the apartment around 8.  Sarah and I decided this was not acceptable!  So we went out and drove around town for a while before finally deciding to make a pie run!

Though the pie turned into Cheesecake!

Today I was able to sleep in!  I love knowing my alarm clock will not go off!  I ended up sleeping in until around 11:30.  After I finally gained enough energy to start my day I  made a lovely lunch of chicken noodles.  I must have really been a cooking mood because I made my roommates a cheese dip too!  I must say it was mighty tasty! Then I bummed around the apartment, worked on a couple of things for a research paper, and got ready for the first ONU home football game!  The game was intense!  At half time we were ahead 3-0.  By the end of the 4th quarter the score was 10-10.  But then it was overtime...and a guy intercepted the ball and ran it for 84 yards to win!!!!

Now we are bumming around the apartment again, watching A Walk to Remember.  I love these kinds of days!  Hopefully tomorrow will be just as fun and productive!

Love you all,
Sarah

Goodness Gracious!

To be honest I have not written the past few days because come night time I have been angry.  So let's do a quick recap.

Sunday after church my family came up and we went to lunch and did some shopping.  Denver and I had fun catching the family up on all that's been going on, plus we liked being spoiled a little bit! Once they left it was time to prepare for Ollies Follies.  Since sophomores are Fourth of July, my favorite holiday, I was super excited!
Sunday night was the wacky games for Ollies Follies.  Basically there are a bunch of different relay races that go on with the classes competing against one another.  They did games such as who could eat the fastest, a wheelbarrow race, a chugging race, the inflatable tire game, and so many more!  While the games were entertaining themselves the sophomores did not do so well.  Being as competitive as I am, and having placed third and fourth in all of the races, I was a tad upset.  Let's just say I screamed a lot at the game only contributing to the voice I was already losing from my cold.  So instead of ranting and raving like I could, how about some pictures instead?

Yesterday was a decent day overall as I just had the regular day of classes.  When I was back at the apartment in the afternoon I really started to feel worse.  My cold was bad and I had a really upset stomach.  So I just lounged around, watched Friends, and drank some Sprite.  Toward the end of the evening I realized I had to do some homework whether I felt well or not so I hurried around to get all of that done.  Then as I was winding down again I receved an e-mail telling me that I had to move chapel seats.  Now I believe I wrote on here earlier about how much I LOVED my chapel seat!  I knew it was too good to be true.  So I guess tomorrow I will be sitting in a new seat...hopefully it will be a lovely seat too.  In my anger of finding out about my chapel seat I failed to see my roommate's book bag on the floor and proceeded to trip and fall flat on my face.  I laughed so hard I cried!

Today seems to have flown by!  I had an early work shift and spent the rest of the day in classes, labs, and at work.  I had some breaks in between which were helpful in giving me time to finish homework.  Now I am just preparing myself for tomorrow!

Well I am sure there are things I have left out...but it's time to finish up some other things!

Love you all!
Sarah

P.S.
Oh, and while usually I try to take time to proof these things, I am going to let it be tonight.  So please don't judge. I'm in a rush! ;-)

Have I Left My Apartment Today?

Today I woke up at 9:30! I realize that is sleeping in....but that is way too early for a Saturday! Though I might have woken up that early, I definitely lounged around for about an hour before becoming motivated enough to get ready for the day.  After getting ready I made a delicious lunch!  I had never made beef noodles before but I followed my mom's instructions and make a delicious lunch!  The rest of the afternoon was spent working on homework and watching Friends episodes.  I'm kind of embarrassed to admit such a day of nothingness---but it was pretty enjoyable.

This evening I was all geared up to go to Ollies Follies.  Right before it was going to start I decided to run to the library to pick up some books for science lessons.  On the way back it was really windy and dark outside.  Once the thunder started I walked as fast as possible to the apartment.  Luckily I made it inside right before the rain started.  Needless to say the relay games of Ollies Follies were postponed until tomorrow. :-(  So the roommates and I went and got pizza and watched more Friends.  Tracy came over and we played a game of Apples to Apples...which I may or may not have lost.  Let's just say...there were some interesting arguments throughout the game.  After the game Stephanie, Tracy and I Sweat to the Oldies!  Since the video consists of dancing we may or may not have been breaking Olivet rules.  But it was choreographed right?! Well now we are watching some Glee and probably more Friends before we go to bed.

I am so excited for the games tomorrow!  Let's go sophomores!

Love,
Sarah

We Define Fun!

It's Friday, Friday, Gotta Get Down on Friday!

Today has been a fabulous day! I could bore you of the details of classes but instead let's focus on the interesting/fabulous moments!

After my english class today I had a meeting for biology.  Elementary teachers do not have to do the basic homework and instead have to do lesson plans.  Well it was a small meeting with only like 10 people so we went around the room and introduced ourselves.  One girl decided to share about how she went to Cedar Point, resulting in my teacher deciding to share all.  Her exact words were, "I am the reason God created Depends."  She then went on to share with us how she wet herself after riding the roller coaster in the mall, but that she still considered it a success since she was able to ride without holding onto the handle bars! Oh this could be an interesting lab this semester.

In other exciting news of the day...my best friend Kayla Foster joined my World Civilization class!! I am no longer lonely and concerned about who will be in my group!  Plus I have never had a class with her before!

After classes were done and I completed the long trek back to my apartment in the 100 degree heat, I crashed on the couch.

This evening it was time for the ONU Block Party!  My roommates and I were able to take pictures with Dr. B. all dressed up in props for the sophomores!  Each class this year has been assigned a holiday since the theme is Happy Olliedays!  Freshman are Thanksgiving, Sophomores are Fourth of July, Juniors are Valentine's Day, and Seniors are Christmas.
Dr. B cheering for the sophomores!
We also got to listen to some awesome music and eat free food!  I even enjoyed some Buffalo Wild Wings!  Kate, Sarah, and I also enjoyed the petting zoo.  Thought I must admit, I am not a fan of nature.  One goat just kind of got in my way for a while and I was starting to panic at the thought of being cornered with a goat.  BUT when I said to him, "You should move," he did!  It was like magic!

My first floor mates from last year!

The block party was definitely a success!  Now I am enjoying myself in my apartment.  My roommates and I are watching some Friends, but mostly we are avoiding the fact that a mound of homework is waiting.  I will write tomorrow to update you on the Ollies Follies status! Root for the sophomores!

Love,
Sarah

Slap Happy

Today was an early day.  I woke up around 6:15 in order to be at work by 7:25.  I had to open and close since chapel started right after my shift ended.  Chapel was really wonderful today.  I love services where you see people lift their hands and worship!

After chapel I did some homework in the Red Room before class at noon.  Today's class was Christian Scriptures II.  The main part of the class is writing the 10 page exegesis that requires 2 sources and lots of other details.  Usually you are able to have 2 or 3 months to prepare and write the paper.  Well the professor decided to move the date up and now it is due 1 month from Tuesday! Insert frantic state and need to go to the library! (haha I might be slightly over-exaggerating)

After class I had two shifts at work, after which my dad came and met me at Weber! He took me to eat some delicious Mexican food, bought me water bottles, and then bought me cheesecake! It was nice to see him!

Once I got back to the apartment my roommates and I played some Glee Karaoke! We weren't always on pitch...but we had fun!  Oh and did I mention that my amazing roommate Kaitlyn volunteer to do my laundry?! I love my apartment and my roommates!!  Well I have not been sleeping well, so it's a quick episode of Glee and then bed for me.  Pardon the grammatical errors.

Love you all,
Sarah
