I know, I know. I have officially failed at writing in this blog. Let me explain why I have stopped writing. This year has been EXTREMELY challenging. I have had some issues and conflicts, and honestly it just wasn't worth the effort to try and explain. Once I missed one day of writing it just became all too easy to avoid writing all together. BUT rather than bore you with the details of the past, let's just move on to what is currently on my mind.
The school year is quickly coming to an end. This semester has been fairly easy so far (knock on wood) but that is mostly because my major assignments are not due until April. I love to plan ahead so it is challenging for me to not be able to work ahead and complete assignments early. But all I can do is take it one day at a time and that is precisely what I will be doing.
This semester I taught my first lesson in a classroom! I am in a second grade classroom and am loving my time observing and interacting with the students. I taught the students a lesson on community service. We read the book together and played a game of Bingo to learn the jobs that the students see in their community. The students were upset though because I made the Bingo game so that neither team would win. They kept saying, "Ms. Abner we wanted to win!" They are so precious. My cooperating teacher really seemed to like my lesson and had only positive feedback, which was a great way to begin my journey of what will become many lesson plans in the future.
The weather has been absolutely amazing considering it is only March. I have enjoyed working on my homework in the backyard of the apartment while also catching some rays. :) The problem, however, is that I am finding myself avoiding homework because of this wonderful weather. Considering I still have a full month left here I had better not let myself get too caught up in the spring fever yet.
This weekend is almost over, which of course I find extremely sad. This weekend it was only Stephanie and I in the apartment. I feel like we just bummed around the apartment for most of Friday evening and Sunday, but sometimes that is the best kind of weekend. Saturday I worked in the morning but then spent the afternoon with my family. My brother and cousin were celebrating their birthdays so we went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner.
Well, I am sure there is much more to write about, but I think that is all I have time for today. This is such a dry blog, but maybe I will have more to write about tomorrow. I am visiting the Wastewater Treatment Plant so surely there is a good story for you there.
Sweet dreams all,
Sarah
