Saturday started out by a lovely lunch at Maggianos. Their bread is literally amazing! I probably said this just a few blog entries ago...but seriously, the bread is absolutely delicious. After a wonderful lunch at Maggianos we literally shopped until we dropped. We went to the mall first and shopped for John at stores like the Buckle and Express. We shopped for mom at Brookstone and the Croc Store, and I went to Forever 21 and American Eagle. I purchased some cute shirts to wear and some accessories that weren't too expensive. I saw this one bracelet I really wanted in Express but it was like $30. I walked across the mall to American Eagle and saw a bracelet that looked extremely similar for less than half of that. I was happy. :) Then after the mall we went to the Container Store. This is the second time now that I have gone there without purchasing anything. Criminal. After the Container Store we went to Target...which probably seems weird since we have one here, but I was in desperate need of a new planner. Plus I found this cool multiplication workbook that I can use for tutoring. By the time we were extremely tired of shopping, my dad and the other workers were ready for a dinner break so we went to the Cheesecake Factory. Who would have guessed that it was Cheesecake Day and therefore all cheesecakes were half off! I stuck with the original cheesecake but man was it good!
My delicious pasta that I could not finish from Maggianos. |
My mom was sad that John didn't play with Legos anymore. |
Loews Theatre--an amazing theater! |
Today I had to work from 8-1. I took care of some VBS things like making the schedules and signs for each classroom. Then I tutored and headed to the church to decorate. We worked up until the last possible minute, but managed to get everything done in time. We had 16 kids tonight and overall I think night one of Vacation Bible School was a success. I am so glad we have workers who are willing to shift from position to position depending on where they are needed most. We told the kids that some special guests are coming tomorrow. We gave them the hint that the people coming are heroes. One girl asked if it was Michael Jackson. :) Oh and Batman was guessed at one point too. You have to love the perspective of little kids.
As for the title of this blog. I've heard it said many times when someone orders too much food and can't eat it all, that their eyes were too big for their stomach. Well perhaps our eyes can be too big for wallets as well. It seems as though I look around and see things I would like to have and just can't seem to afford. Now I realize this is part of life and growing up, having to pay bills and car repairs instead of splurging money on purses. However, I also realize that a lot of the having to be tight with my money lately comes from the fact that this England trip is completely draining my savings...and that is slightly discouraging. I guess it will all work out in the end though.
Well today is my mom's birthday so after VBS we came back and opened presents and some people ate cake. I refrained somehow since I have really been trying to lose weight. I even forced myself to stand on my pained feet to exercise for 40 minutes tonight. I did a Richard Simmons video which was interesting to say the least. I am losing my motivation to exercise and need to find some more ways to make it interesting.
Well I must get to sleep. Tomorrow is my afternoon shift at work but I can't sleep in because I have to go get a test done at the doctor. Oh well...it will be worth it to have some answers.
Night all! I can finally check "post blog" off of my to do list and head to bed!
Sarah
