MIA

Hello!

This blog post is long overdue...but there were some people I wanted to share my story with personally before everyone read it online.  I know that prior to this post I had talked about my upcoming mission trip, and I cannot believe that the mission trip was a month ago!  The past few weeks I have been pondering all that I wanted to share with you about my trip to Indianapolis.  The experience was one that I will never forget, one that has been life-changing.  Each day while we were in Indy we faced different tasks.  We were blessed to serve at Shepherd Community Center, an organization that encompasses a school, after school program, sports complex, food pantry, health clinic, and so much more.  We were fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to serve in many areas.  Throughout the week I spent the mornings working with a preschool class.  I worked to help the teacher with recess duty, preparing class materials, and of course being allowed to love on the children and share with them God’s love.  The afternoons consisted of working with an after-school program.  I worked with kindergarten and first graders.  I helped them with homework, enjoyed praise and worship time, played games, and colored.

As an education major I love every second that I am blessed to spend with children.  I am used to spending time with students in my field experiences for my education methods courses, but the time I was able to spend with the children in Indy was different.  The children faced hardships beyond what I had ever seen or imagined. My heart broke for so many children.  The needs of each precious child was far greater than anything I could ever imagine.  While I have several stories I can share about this trip, this is something I much prefer to share in detail in person.  Not to mention, that due to privacy reasons I am only comfortable sharing as much as I have in this post.  But, I did want you guys to know that the mission trip I had been so looking forward to was a blast.  Here are a few pictures of me on the trip, again due to privacy reasons no pictures of the children will be posted online.

Oh, and please considering praying for the children of Indy...I know I am :)

Thanks!
