The Dreaded Computer Crash

I am moving back to school until four days....can you believe it?!  This summer was crazy and chaotic...but definitely a fun one.

Vacation Bible School came and went.  It wasn't the easiest year...but I was happy to see how many kids came each night and to see how much they enjoyed VBS.  Most importantly, I love knowing how many opportunities those kids had to learn of God's love each night. :)

The week after Vacation Bible School I went into immediate planning mode for back to school.  (Did I mention it is only four days away?!)  I made move-in arrangements with the school, took a trip to the school where I will student teach to help set some things up, and spent my last week of the summer babysitting the kids.  The girls and I tried to make our last week together memorable.  We had our last picnic of the summer and spent several afternoons playing at the park.  We also snuck in another craft day...although I forgot to take any pictures of our crafts (our full concentration was on our painting skills).

After a busy week I was able to enjoy a weekend getaway in Chicago with my family.  I did some shopping, enjoyed the suite in our hotel, and ate at my favorite restaurant. It was nice to just be away for a weekend and not feel as pressured to be completing projects for school.

Well today it was back in full swing to prepare for my return to school.  I probably sound slightly crazy right now in terms of spending so much time preparing to return to school.  But, more than ever this year I want to make sure that I am as prepared as possible for back to school.  I always move in a couple of days early for the school year but this year I will be moving in a week earlier than most people since I will be student teaching.  I will also not have as much free time to get settled in at the apartment since I will be starting school (as a teacher!) on Monday.  I have no clue how much free time I will have once student teaching begins, so I am trying to complete as much as possible ahead of time to make my life easier later on.  (I've been trying to think ahead even as far as figuring out what to do for dinners when the dining hall isn't open the week I am there early, to finding a way for someone else to pick up my mail, etc.)  So, to help make that possible, today my dad and I took care of several errands.  We had my computer looked at, took some clothes to the alterations place, and found some last minute clothing items I needed for student teaching.  We ate lunch out and came back to the house where I was fully prepared to relax...

Unfortunately, though, I went to turn on my computer and realized that it was taking forever to accept my password.  I finally rebooted and was waiting for it to turn back on.  Next thing I know it was flashing a screen I had never seen before.  I took it to my dad (the computer guru) who is currently working to fix it.  The reality of the fact is that one of two things will happen. 1.)  We will fix the computer but I will have lost ALL of my pictures, fonts, and more.  Plus I will have to reinstall everything once again.  or  2.) We won't be able to fix the computer, I will have lost all of my pictures fonts, etc., and I will have to buy a new computer.  Which is going to cost quite a lot of money that I do not have.  Now, you are probably wondering why I am so shocked by what happened to my computer when I took it in to be looked at earlier in the day.  Ironically, I was having my laptop looked at to replace one of the feet  from the bottom of my laptop that had fallen off.  The problem was really more of a cosmetic thing, making a computer crash the furthest thing from my mind.  With that said, I am basically just waiting to see what can be done and hoping that I can have a solution before I leave on Saturday.
Let' s just hope these next few days calm down some and I am able to enjoy the last few days of being home. :)
